PetVille: 6 free Pet Cash for watching Despicable Me and Best Buy promo

PetVille Best Buy Despicable Me in 3D Movie Mode
Head on over to the Get Pet Coins & Cash tab in PetVille for 6 free Pet Cash. This offer is being sponsored by Best Buy to promote their Movie Mode app for the iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile. This app is a free download that helps you do various things, such as locate the nearest Best Buy stores, wherever's showing "Despicable Me in 3D", and dims your phone's screen when you're inside the theater.

That all sounds a bit too pushy for an app. However, the best part is that the app comes with a translator that translates what the little yellow Minions in the film are saying.

To get your 6 free Pet Cash, all you have to do is answer three simple questions. You don't have to pay attention to the video. You don't even have to get any of the questions right. For a preview of all the questions and results, see below. PetVille Best Buy Movie Mode - Question 1
Look at how cute that Minion is. And whoa, 23% of the people who took this either couldn't read or couldn't care.
PetVille Best Buy Movie Mode - Question 2
This is probably as tricky as these questions will ever get. Minions are very disposable, but they're also indispensable for world conquest. This film isn't about them though, but their supervillain boss Gru (played by Steve Carrell).
PetVille Best Buy Movie Mode - Question 3
Wow, 92%! It's like, by question 3, everyone's getting with the program.
PetVille Best Buy Movie Mode - Completed
Not too tough at all, was it? The Minion is too short to pat you on the back, but a thumbs up will do. And that's all you need for grabbing your 6 free Pet Cash.

Mafia Wars Old City Bonus grants double mastery on jobs (for some)

A bonus that grants double mastery and extra cash for doing jobs in Mafia Wars' original cities is now live. Called "Old City Bonus," Zynga is rewarding players for finishing up loose ends in cities like New York and Bangkok, says the Mafia Wars Maniac. Completing jobs in these two cities right now will grant double the mastery and lots of extra cash, but not everyone has been invited to the party.

For some players, this feature simply doesn't exist yet. Our first guess is that this bonus is only open to players who either have access to or have mastered Las Vegas, hence the name "Old City Bonus." For someone that hasn't even visited Las Vegas yet, New York and Bangkok aren't exactly "old cities." As of his writing, it's uncertain whether this bonus applies to Cuba or Moscow. If you're one of the lucky few, enjoy increased mastery and more dough for visiting your old stomping grounds.

FarmVille: Wash up the Bathtub Sheep in the Barrel Tub [video]

barrel tub bathrub sheep
Splish splash I was taking a bath! Although we aren't sure exactly how the Barrel Tub Bathtub Sheep fits into the German theme, we do know that this sheep sure has a good deal going. Just basking in the warm FarmVille sun (assuming you don't have the snow theme), sinking down into a nice bath, gazing up at the clear blue skies and big, lazy clouds drifting over. He just sits in that bath all day, cleaning up, blowing bubbles, and preventing any greedy farmers from shearing his valuable wool.

Check out the sheep in action below.

If you've seen the latest update you may have seen our amazing new Barrel Tub. No one else on the farm gets this level of service except us!

FrontierVille Headless Horseman Goals: Everything you need to know

The FrontierVille Headless Horseman Goals are finally live for everyone until Oct. 31 and just as promised, we have a full guide on all five Goals in the series. Prepare to be shocked and amazed as these might be the most visually impressive and challenging Goals seen to date.
Headless Horseman

Check behind the break for how to master the Headless Horseman and save your homestead from ghastly terror.
A Grave Tale
If you've yet to log in the game since the update, you'll find Miss Wildcat waiting to speak with you. It's at this point you'll notice that Zynga has seriously beefed up the storyline in these Goals. Once that's through you'll begin "A Grave Tale," the first Goal in the series.

As an introduction, this Goal is simple enough until the moment you place the foundations of the Graveyard on your homestead. It's then that the Headless Horseman will appear, forcing you to drive him off (trust us, wait on this one) much like a varmint, but doing so will cause him to appear on one of your friends' homesteads.Fortunately, placing the Graveyard nets you 100 XP and 250 coins as well as moves you along to the next Goal.

The Legend of Sleepy Junction
Next, you'll have to scare off the Headless Horseman in "The Legend of Sleepy Junction." Other than that crafting fire and asking friends for items should be second nature, so onward to Part III. (You'll receive 200 XP and a Skeleton Coffin for completing this Goal.)

Horseman's RampageThe third Goal, "Horseman's Rampage," will most likely send you on a rampage. Remember those horses that everyone most likely sold already? Well, you'll have to find five of them in your friends' homesteads and feed them, so good luck with that. Not to mention having to scare off the Horseman from five neighbors' homesteads, which also consumes your five favors.

To top it all off, you also need to chop down five of your neighbors' oak trees. In other words, this one is going to take a while. And all for a measly 200 XP and a Lantern? Thanks...

Ghost Cannon
"Finding the Weakness" is when things get, for lack of a better word, intense. Because this mission requires the Ghost Cannon, you'll have to catch up in FrontierVille's other new set of Goals, "Trick or Treat!" in order to move forward. Other than that, you'll have to find a Bloody Cannonball by clearing debris from your friends' homesteads while asking your friends for 10 Blessed Powders. Completing this Goal will reward you with a nice 300 XP and a Campfire.

Severed HeadThe fifth and final Goal in the series is "Rest in Pieces," which is actually simple enough. All you need to do is send the Headless Horseman back into the afterlife by blasting him with the Ghost Cannon using the Blessed Powders and Bloody Cannonball.

Defeating your noggin-less foe will cause him to literally lose his head, which is required to finish the Graveyard. Finish your personal cemetery to win a full Horseman or Horsewoman costume to strut around your homestead in this Halloween.

FrontierVille Trick or Treat! Goals: Everything you need to know

    umpkin     Jack-o-Lantern
Finally, Halloween has arrived in FrontierVille and with it, of course, comes new Goals. One of two series of Goals, "Trick or Treat!" tasks players with preparing their homestead for the big night and finally tricking and treating up a storm in their neighbors' homesteads. While these Goals are much lighter than the star of the show, they're required to finish defeating the Headless Horseman that's been ravaging our homesteads. Besides, who doesn't like trick-or-treating?

Join us after the break for a detailed guide on how to make the best of these new Goals.
Halloween Harvest
To prepare your homestead for Halloween, you'll have to finish the autumn harvest in "Halloween Harvest." If you don't have eight of each of these items already, you can easily find them in the Market. Finish this Goal rewards you with a modest 50 XP and 50 Food, but then again you didn't do much.

Ghost Bustin'
You may have noticed that the varmints you've been clobbering haven't exactly been going away. Well, just whack them again in "Ghost Bustin'" to fulfill this Goal's requirements. Unfortunately, tackling this daunting task is going to require lots of EJack-o-Lanternnergy, so stock up on Food and visit your friends if you want this Goal done in a jiffy. Completing this mission rewards you with 100 XP and the coveted Ghost Cannon, which you'll need later, trust us.

In "Wicked Decoratin'," it's time to spruce up the place all spooky-like. Buy a Jack-o-Lantern from the Market and place anywhere in your homestead. Then, click on the pumpkin to carve it and you'll be met by a menu screen like most buildings. To build a Jack-o-Lantern you'll have to ask your friends for four of each of these items (in addition to one Pumpkin Tarp): Seed Scoops, Detail Saws, Carving Knives and Hole Pokers. Lastly, you'll need to buy Headstones from the Market too--not to be confused with Tombstones. Do this and you'll be 200 XP and 250 coins richer.

Costume Page
To get all dressed up for "Trick or Treat," you'll need to buy a costume from the Market. Thankfully, some of the get-ups are available for coins, especially the hilarious Green Man costume for you It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans out there. Once you're all done up, head to your neighbors' homesteads and click on your friends to either trick them or treat them. Each of your friends can only be either tricked or treated once daily, so these requirements are going to take a while if you don't have plenty of friends. However, finishing this task will reward you with 300 XP and Halloween Balloons--everyone loves balloons.

Candy Corn     Bobbing Apple
The final Goal in the series, "The Aftermath," is much simpler than those before it and half of it will most likely be completed by the time you arrive at the task. You'll have to collect three Candy Corn, which is a part of the Treat Collection that's fortunately completed through treating your neighbors (sound familiar?). Other than that, all you need to do is ask your friends for Bobbing Apples to get you on your way to 500 XP and a sweet Skeleton Costume. Too bad Green Man is way cooler...

FrontierVille Graveyard: Everything you need to know

Finish Your Graveyard
With the onslaught of Halloween Goals and items recently unleashed upon FrontierVille came a brand new building--if you even could call it that--the Graveyard. While it's currently unknown what Daily Bonus it yields, the Graveyard is required to finish the Headless Horseman Goal series and requires much more than merely a few whacks (13, to be exact) to complete.

GraveyardBuying it in the Market for 500 coins and 500 wood will cause the gruesome-looking Headless Horseman to appear on your homestead, forcing you to shoo him away. Once that battle is through, the spot requires 13 whacks that each cost 13 wood (how quaint), the Graveyard menu (pictured above) will open up with six more requirements.

While asking your friends for Wooden Coffins, Grave Flowers and Beeswax Candles is easy enough, the other three items require a bit of snooping around. The Bloody Cannonball can only be found by clearing debris in your neighbors' homesteads, but consumes a daily favor with each attempt, unfortunately. If you hadn't guessed already, the Horseman's Head drops during Part V of the Headless Horseman Goals.

What's most peculiar is the Hessian's Hat. The only way to find the ghost's old military hat is to invite a new player or neighbor to FrontierVille. (Very clever, Zynga.) You can unlock this requirement by paying up a whopping 65 Horseshoes, or around $8, but that's a hefty fee. Talk about forcibly expanding your horizons.

FrontierVille Third Kid Goals: Everything you need to know

FrontierVille Babies
And here you thought it stopped at two. Oh, no pioneers. Zynga is taking this all the way to six kids in FrontierVille, so we want to help get you there with some tips and information on how to make these deliveries as painless a process as possible. Well, at least for you--we can't speak for the misses.

Check after the break for more details on all four missions in the series.
Rocking HorseWith a third baby, you're going to have to up the ante with these Goals. Essentially, these tasks are just increased amounts of the ones before with a few twists. So, let us help you get this baby into the world safely.

Oh Baby?:
-Get 15 Baby Names (request from friends)
-Have 70 Cloth (visit a lot of friends' homesteads)
-Feed 40 Sheep

All in all, this first Goal is going to take even the most hardcore players more than one day. But at least sending your friends some Baby Names generates one for you too helps a bit, right?

Kids are People Too!:
-Have two Cherry Candies (harvest Cherry Trees for this Collection item)
-Have two Peach Candies (harvest Peach Trees for this Collection item)
-Buy three Lunches from the Market

Again, this is more of same... much more. Lunches will benefit you anyway, so don't fret about spending the Food.

Babies Love Goat Milk!:
-Accept Help from three Neighbors
-Have two Goat's Milk (Harvest Goats for this Collection item)
-Have 400 Wood

This will require a bit more finesse as it asks that your friends help out, which is something you don't necessarily have control over. Getting some Goat's Milk is easy enough, but acquiring 400 Wood is going to take lots of Energy over probably at least two days.

The Blessed Event!:
-Harvest 20 Cabbage
-Have two Cribs inside the Barn
-Buy a Rocking Horse at the Market (pictured)

You should already have two Cribs from the first Kid Goals, but harvesting the Cabbage will take some time. We recommend just begin harvesting in Part III, so that when you reach this Goal you'll already have the Cabbage ready to go. As for the Rocking Horse, we think you got this. Completing these Goals will finally reward you with a third little one to roam the homestead. Just revel in this a little before you jump right into the fourth one, OK?

FrontierVille Land Grab: Cool new feature or cheap ploy to lure new players?

FrontierVille has introduced a new feature called the Land Grab, which pops up at random while you're paying a visit to your neighbors. At first, it seemed like it was actually offering additional land for your frontier, but on closer inspection, it's really a new way to invite people to play FrontierVille. Some might be tempted to call this Land Grab feature a "cheap ploy."

Anyway -- it works like this. While you are visiting a neighbor, you will see a pop-up window that says the following:

You set foot on an unclaimed parcel of land on the way to your neighbor's homestead! Tidy 'er up then choose a friend who'd like to Manifest Destiney here -- once they settle down with a cozy little cabin, you'll get a 10,000 coin finders fee.

If you decide to accept 'Tidy Up,' you'll be prompted to spend 100 coins and buy a title for a friend who is not currently playing FrontierVille. If that person decides to build a cabin on that property, you'll get the 10K coins.

frontierville land grab land title

After you buy a title and notify your friends, you can "tidy" up the place and do five tasks on your friend's would-be property.

frontierville land grab

When you're done with that -- the waiting begins. Will your friends accept the invite or will you be denied your 10,000 coins? Only time will tell.

FarmVille Mystery Game (12/19/10): Silver and Gold items for all

Tonight's FarmVille update brings with it a slew of silver and gold items, that will surely look great on any user's farm.

Silver and gold, silver and gold - means so much more when I seeeeeeeeee
Silver and gold decorations on every Christmas tree

... Ahem, excuse me. I think I got a little carried there - I do love a good Rudolph reference. Now where was I? Oh yes, new silver and gold items have been added to the Mystery Game this week, and we have a full list of what is included here for your browsing pleasure.

As usual, there are six items up for grabs - here's what you can find inside:

Golden Bridge
Silver and Gold Garden
Silver and Gold Mansion
Gold Trellis Swing
Silver Rabbit
Golden Monkey

See? I told you there were enough silver and gold items to go around! If you'd like a chance at adding one, or all of these new decorative items to your farm, you'll have to pay 16 Farm Cash per dart. And you'll need to do so fast - as usual, this Mystery Game will only be around for the rest of the week, when (presumably next Sunday) these items are removed, and another set of six exclusive items is added to the game.

FarmVille Yakut Pony and Santa Cat now available for Farm Cash

If you'd like to get your hands on even more Holiday (or at least Winter) themed animals in FarmVille, you'll be happy to know that Zynga has included two such animals in tonight's FarmVille update.

Now available are the Yakut Pony and the Santa Cat. Both are premium items, available only for Farm Cash (or, I suppose you could have a generous farmer purchase one for you, you lucky farmer, you). The Yakut Pony costs 26 Farm Cash, and can be harvested from every three days. You'll earn 84 coins when you do so. The Santa Cat can also be harvested every three days, but it costs less, at 12 Farm Cash. You'll earn 90 coins each time you collect from the cat, making this the more profitable item overall.

Still, for you horse collectors out there, you know what a knew Pony means - that's right! A new Yakut Foal as well, so be sure to add the Pony to your Horse Stable if you do choose to purchase one for a chance of breeding a Foal that can be shared with friends.

Since the Santa Cat is clearly a holiday-related animal, it's time remaining in the store reflects that, as it will only be available to purchase for 5 days, while the Yakut Pony will be available for 12.

FarmVille Mountain Cabin, FV Ornament, Redwood, Turtle Doves, and more now available

A slew of new Winter Holiday buildings and decorations were released to the FarmVille store this evening, as Zynga is apparently looking to add content to the theme right up until Christmas itself rolls around (or even after). In tonight's update, we see a new building being added to the theme, along with six new decorative items.

The new building is the Mountain Cabin, and it costs 30 Farm Cash to add to your farm. This lovely building fits in with the other Winter Holiday buildings that have been added to the game, as it is themed in a rustic way, with evergreen trees at the corners, just as the others are.

As for the decorative items, they are split evenly between those items that cost Farm Cash, and those that go for coins. On the premium side, we have the Redwood tree, a decoration-only tree that costs 4 Farm Cash, the Horse Snowpile (an animated item that shows a Horse playing around in a pile of snow) which costs 12 Farm Cash, and the Turtle Doves, a pair of lovely birds that are perked upon a themed birdhouse - these birds will set you back 18 Farm Cash. Just as the Redwood tree, these Doves are purely decorative, and are not harvestable.

For those who have already spent all of their Farm Cash on other items from this theme, there are three items that are available for coins. The first is the Snowman Family, a lighted decoration that falls in line with the Lighted Train released at the end of November, which costs 200,000 coins. Next is the FV Ornament (which stands for the "FarmVille Ornament"), which is marked with a 2010 marking, making it especially limited, in that we know it won't be released next year. It can be purchased for 20,000 coins. Finally, the Winter Mailbox is a decorated mailbox that costs 10,000 coins.

These items have varying expiration dates, with the Mountain Cabin being available for 14 days, the FV Ornament and the Snowman Family being available for 5 days, and the Horse Snowpile, Turtle Doves, and Winter Mailbox being available for 12 days. Finally, the Redwood will be available longer still, with 21 days left in the store.

Zoo World creator RockYou's Jonathan Knight leaves for Zynga

And there goes another. Inside Social Games reports that Jonathan Knight (pictured), former SVP of Games at RockYou, has left the company for Zynga. The company's--best known for Zoo World--CEO Lisa Marino confirmed the move. Before his departure, Knight oversaw the acquisitions of studios like 3 Blokes, which just launched Galactic Allies, and Playdemic of Gourmet Ranch fame.

"We hired [Knight] to help us build out a portfolio of great products and he's done the job," Marino told ISG. "We have built a strong team of talent through a careful hiring process, our Studio Partners program, and acquisitions over the past year. The departure of Jonathan will not impact our game development pipeline or our plans to continue to launch quality titles."

Knight has a deep history in the games business, coming to RockYou from veteran publisher EA as VP and executive VP for nine years. During that time, Knight oversaw major releases like entries in The Sims series and The Simpsons Game. In fact, ISG recalls that Knight was brought in to help RockYou transform from a social app developer into a social game creator.

The move happens just as RockYou prepares to launch Cloudforest Expedition on Facebook with designer John Romero's Loot Drop. Knight joins a number of major video game execs that have flocked to Zynga in the past year, many of which coming from EA. The company's CCO Jeff Schappert recently left for Zynga, who was then followed by NBA Jam creator Mark Turmell and EA Play exec Jeff Karp. We've contacted Zynga for comment as to what Knight might be up to with the company.
